


Tithal is situated 100 Kms from Surat and 5 kms from Valsad on the Mumbai-Vadodara Western Railway. Tithal has also got a beautiful sandy beach and dipping here is much safer than Ubharat. The fine sandy beach with a backdrop of shady palm groves. It is a beautiful sandy beach with palm-sheltered cottages.
The former Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai and Bhulabhai Desai, a notable freedom fighter, were from Valsad. Also, the parents of British rocker Freddie Mercury were also from Valsad.
The city and surrounding areas, famous for its farms and trading of Alphonso mangos (known locally as Haafus), still retain this business as one of the main segments of their economy.
The sea-coast town of Tithal on the Arabian sea is about 5 km to the west of city of Valsad, and is flocked by the young and elderly inhabitants of the city during the evenings. Tithal also has a temple dedicated to Sai Baba of Shirdi and another of Swaminarayan sect on the beach, which draws many devotees and tourists from the District and the surrounding areas.
